All About DANIEL SPARROW PRODUCTIONS ...
Based between both London and Australia, Daniel conceived, developed and produced the award-winning West End stage adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar’s All About My Mother at The Old Vic (co-production with The Old Vic and Neal Street) in 2007, starring Dame Diana Rigg, Lesley Manville, Mark Gatiss, Colin Morgan and Joanne Froggat. There have since been 23 different productions in 18 different languages internationally. This marked the start of Daniel's career as an independent commercial producer.
Subsequent West End production highlights include Three Days of Rain, starring James McAvoy, hit Australian play Holding the Man starring Jane Turner (from ‘Kath and Kim’), Michel Legrand’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg directed by Emma Rice, in collaboration with Kneehigh Theatre, the Olivier Award winning Sweeney Todd starring Michael Ball, Stiles and Drewe’s new musical Soho Cinders, the recent Palladium revival of A Chorus Line and the Olivier Award nominated play Songs For Nobodies, another transfer of a hit Australian play.
Daniel also has experience in the family entertainment market, having produced and managed the UK tour of Dora the Explorer Live! and Scooby Doo Live! at the London Palladium.
Internationally, on Broadway, Daniel has co-produced Exit the King, starring Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon, and has been involved as an investor in The Addams Family and Company.
In Australia he produced the Sydney premiere of David Williamson's hit play Rupert charting the life of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, starring Oscar nominated multi Emmy-award winning actor James Cromwell ("Babe", "LA Confidential", "Six Feet Under") and again, working with Australian tv comedy icon Jane Turner (Kath from "Kath and Kim") as Margaret Thatcher.
Developing new work and championing emerging talent has always been a passion and tenant of creatrivity, and he has worked with numerous new writers and and talent, notably on Matthew Brind and Rachel Wagstaff’s thrilling and epic new WWII musical Only the Brave which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe before a hugely well received full scale production at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. He also developed Australian writer Amity Dry’s new musical comedy The (M)other Life, which was a huge audience hit in a concert version that premiered at the Wyndhams Theatre in the West End, bringing audiences to tears of emotion and joy.
Before becoming an independent producer, upon moving to London, Daniel cut his teeth working with one of London's most respected and experienced General Managers, Andrew Treagus for 8.5 years, working on numerous plays, musicals and workshops, including Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot, as well as various plays for Robert Fox including The Lady in the Van starring Maggie Smith, The Caretaker starring Michael Gambon, and David Hare's The Breath of Life starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
Prior to moving to the UK, Daniel worked in Ticketing and Production Management on the Australian productions of Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Sisterella, executive produced by Michael Jackson. His first job was working for an Australian full-service marketing agency, assisting on the marketing and advertising accounts for the Australian productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Sunset Boulevard and the Asian tour of Les Misérables.
Daniel has a degree in International Business Relations from Brisbane's Griffith University and a Diploma in Cross-Cultural Communication.
